Late Rally by Cheesepressers Secures Win
|
Starting pitcher Lance McFarlen pitched well enough to help the Toledo Cheesepressers beat the Corpus Christi Kingfishers by the score of 6-3. The save was credited to Robby Cappel, his 13th. Toledo is now 31-10, Corpus Christi 21-21.
Steve Gambino drove in one run for Toledo. The 29-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Terry Farrow. It was his 20th RBI of the season.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Gambino told the Toledo Gazette. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
