Magana 3-4 to Pull Kingfishers to .500

The Corpus Christi Kingfishers topped the Toledo Cheesepressers, 6-2, with designated hitter Marco Magana playing a big role. Magana went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Kingfishers in the win. Michael Ponce, the winner, improved to 6-4. He held the Cheesepressers to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 0. With the win, the Kingfishers have a record of 27-27.
Ernie Cordell aided the Corpus Christi cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.
